Military Options Toward the Houthi Group: Dimensions and Opportunities

The Arab Political Forum (APF) Held a Political Seminar on Military Developments in the Yemeni Landscape

The Arab Political Forum (APF) held a political seminar addressing recent developments in the military trajectory in Yemen, titled: “Military Options Toward the Houthi Group: Dimensions and Opportunities.”

The seminar was attended by a number of political, military, and academic figures. It opened with remarks by the President of the Arab Political Forum, Mr. Salah al-Din Kamel Al-Sharabi, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of discussing the rapidly evolving military developments in light of the current situation.

The seminar addressed three main themes:

First Theme: Presented by Brigadier General Majed Al-Jabali, titled “U.S. Strikes Against the Houthi Group: Objectives and Outcomes.”
In his presentation, he discussed the nature of the airstrikes of United States, their political and military background, and their impact on the balance of power in Yemen and the wider region.

Second Theme: Presented by Dr. Thiab Al-Dabba, titled “Prospects for a Foreign Ground Military Operation in Yemen.”
He reviewed possible scenarios for external ground intervention, the positions of international and regional actors regarding such a move, as well as the risks and challenges associated with this option.

Third Theme: Presented by Brigadier Abdulrahman Al-Rubaie, titled “Opportunities and Capabilities of the Yemeni Government in the Military Track.”
His presentation focused on the challenges facing the Yemeni army and other military formations, as well as the available capabilities to enhance their performance in light of the current field and political situation.

The seminar also witnessed several valuable interventions from attendees, which enriched the themes presented and contributed to the broader discussion on Yemen’s military landscape.

A number of prominent figures from the community attended the seminar, including Sheikh Mabkhout bin Aboud Al-Sharif, Head of the Yemeni Congregation for Reform Party (Islah) in Marib Governorate, member of the Shura Council; Abdulnasser Ali Al-Lawzi, Deputy Director of the Office of the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Organizations and Agencies; and Dr. Ammar Al-Bukhaiti, Head of the Department of Political Science at Saba Region University, in addition to several military, academic, and media personalities.
