Participation of the Arab Political Forum in the Seminar on African Refugees to Yemen

The Arab Political Forum (APF) participated in the political seminar held by the National Center for Strategic Studies, based on an official invitation extended to the Forum by the Center, within the framework of the Forum’s ongoing partnership initiatives.

The seminar in which the Forum took part was titled: “African Refugees between Humanitarian Values and Security Risks.”

The Arab Political Forum contributed to the seminar through the preparation and presentation of a research paper entitled: “The Role of International Organizations in the Protection and Regulation of Refugee Movements.” The Forum’s contribution was presented by Mr. Yusuf Hussein Batami, who, in his paper, addressed the international conventions and treaties related to asylum to which Yemen is a signatory. He also reviewed statistical data published by foreign organizations regarding the numbers of refugees and irregular migrants, and discussed the activities carried out by these organizations, as well as the economic challenges and constraints. The paper concluded with a set of findings and recommendations.

The seminar was attended by the First Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major General Mohammed Salem bin Aboud, along with representatives from a number of security agencies and local and international organizations.
